On the basis of the statement of Major Ashutosh Shukla, a witness of the incident, the FIR was registered. They were asleep in their rooms after finishing their duty when two masked men attacked them with sharp-edged weapons and riffles. The four jawans were found in the pool of blood in their rooms, and all four of them belonged to an artillery unit of the army.  The police informed the media that one of the weapons used in the crime was seized. According to the Army statement, no other injuries to personnel or damage to the property have been reported.

Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister, also received information of the incident from Manoj Pandey,  Army Chief General, sources said.
